Hello and Goodbye

 

 

 

 

 

 

I spent the afternoon enjoying the sunny weather in Pyynikki. The esker of Pyynikki is one of my favorite places in Tampere. On the top of the esker there is a splendid view over Pyhäjärvi.
There is also a marvellous and famous donut cafe.

In an old factory, Pyynikin Trikoo,  in Pyynikki there has been my studio for nearly ten years. 

I am sad to leave the place and friends  but  I am moving my studio back home. 

The kids are grown and moved away and there is plenty of room in our house now.  

Today I painted in Pyynikki studio maybe for the last time.

Ihana iltapäivä Pyynikillä; se on yksi mielipaikoistani Tampereella. Siellä on kuuluisan munkkikahvilan sekä upeiden maisemien ja ulkoilumahdollisuuksien lisäksi ollut jo lähes 10 vuotta työtilani. 

Nyt olen haikeana jättämässä sen - työtilaa on nyt kotonakin kun lapset ovat muutaneet pois.

Entisess kotikaupunkiss viarailull, siäll misä olla "niingon gotonas".

I visited my old home town by the sea. It was as  beautiful as always but windy and freezing cold..

I visited artist Eila Minkkinen´s lovely studio.

She kindly told us about her art and living in the old Rauma. I love her metal sculptures.

 In the Lönnström art museum there are on display some wonderful sculptures and installations. 

January is in my family the time for blinis:

A small pancake, of Russian origin, made from buckwheat flour; traditionally served with melted butter, sour cream and caviar or smoked salmon

The dancing daughter is now also a "canon photographer" ,as well as her brother and I.

We did some fun portrait exercises..

Vimma

Kevätvimman vallassa siivosin työhuoneella.
Löytyi kauan sitten tehty Afrikka aiheinen naamiotyö.
Vimma jatkui maalatessa: hanskoistakin sen huomaa.
Musta pahvi palettina ja mulle tosi oudot värit.
Ah, kevään sakea voima!

Organizing the studio with some spring wildness.
I found a study of an African mask I have made long ago and forgotten.
I started to paint with the same fierce I had been cleaning.
Some of that can be seen in the gloves and the odd black palette.
