DC Nude

The theme of this week´s drawing challenge is 

nude

Our host is Patrice, see her beautiful blog for all participants.

At the moment I am painting for two exhibitions. 

The first one will take place soon, it is a joint exhibition at a little Gallery Ronga in Tampere. 

The theme is Celebration ´cause the gallery´s 5th year anniversary. 

In August I will have a little solo exhibition in Turku, at  Gallery Jänis = Rabbit Gallery:) 

Pink Punch is about make up  and beauty products and the weird image of women the advertising create. This will be the 3rd PP exhibit.

I combined the two themes, googled images of ´celebration+make up´ ( in Finnish ) and begun to paint on basis of some of the most inspiring/weird/cute images.  

The painting seen in the middle is one of the paintings completed so far. The other pics are samples of tones I have been using while painting the skin ( and hair ) and some details of the naked skin I have painted.

Whiter Shade of Pale

 

 arktisen juhannuksen aurinkoiset hetket vietettiin merellisesti Rauman saaristossa.

 Procol Harum soi vielä korvissani torstaisen avajaistapahtuman jäljiltä: kiitos Houserockin´ Fenders!

...and cold but luckily mostly sunny  midsummer at Raumanmeri.

On Thursday`s vernissage I heard a  wonderful band, Houserockin`Fenders, playing beautifully f.ex.Procol Harum!

Turkupäivänä

nautin vanhan kaupungin ja meren hengestä sekä kiinnostavista katunäkymistä. Näin muutaman minulle yhdentekevän näyttelyn ja muutaman kiinnostavan gallerianäyttelyn. 

Galleria å:ssa  oli hauskasti ripustettu piirustusnäyttely, B galleria esitteli väkevää, öljyvärintuoksuista maalausta ( Turussa harrastetaan näköjään aakkosgallerioita:). 

Molemmat galleriat olivat myös tiloina kiinnostavia.

WAM ja Ars Nova olivat kiinni ripustuksen takia, mutta Turun taidemuseossa vietin pari tuntia ihaillen Esko Männikön kerrassaan upeita valokuvia sekä harvinaisen kiinnostavasti koottua museon kokoelmanäyttelyä, jossa uni- ja rakkaus-teemaiset huoneet pysähdyttivät eritoten. Otto Mäkilän Poesie oli tietysti uniosastolla ja hienon kokonaisuuden helminä pidin myös komeasti maalattuja Hannaleena Heiskan teoksia.

Upside down

Patrice choosed a fascinating theme for this week´s DC ( drawing challenge ): Upside down.

Art is often about things that upset, are twisted  - about things that are upside down.

At first Georg Baselitz came to my mind with his bold and strong paintings.

Then I remembered a work called State of Readiness by a sculptor Heli Ryhänen. She is a wonderful artist and  great teacher:)

I have been taking photos of reflections which turn the view upside down.
And I found my "self portrait" ( oil on  metal plate, 2013 ) lying on a shelf - upside down:)

Today  I saw two fascinating and unique exhibitions.
At first I went to Saskia Gallery.

There were on display Pälvi Hanni`s works: very airy, luminous, delicate graphics.

After that I went to Tampere Art Museum to see something very different:

the young artist of the year -exhibition.

Actually, this year the young artist is a artist couple Nabb+Teeri.

They use found objects and waste materials in their installations. Their works are very much art of the day by the themes, too. I found their colors and ideas clever and  funny in a twisted way.
